Braidwood Life Centre & the Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award.
Every day more than 1500 young people start their Award journey.
Braidwood Life Centre is a licensed Award Unit authorised to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award to young people in our local community.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life and work.
The Award is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering all young Australians between age 14 to 25 to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance.
The Award is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.
Each young person who takes part in the Award learns a skill, improves their physical wellbeing, volunteers in their community and goes on an adventure.
All Participants are supported by a network of adult Award Leaders, Assessors, Supervisors, and mentors.
Participants design their own unique program that challenges them to set and meet goals while forging qualities of strength, resolve and commitment.
Open to young people aged 14 to 25, the Award is run in over 140 countries and is available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Each of these levels has four Sections
- Physical Recreation and
- Adventurous Journeys
Additionally, the Gold Award has a fifth Section - the Residential Project.
