Thursday Rooms

Help when you need it

Thursday Rooms

BLC volunteers are available each Thursday (50 weeks of the year) , providing food assistance and support serving local families and individuals in need.

To welcome community and provide support, referral and advocacy.

A supporting hand via a hamper of healthy non perishable staples, along with, quite often, fresh locally grown vegetables, eggs, meat tray or butcher voucher.

A petrol voucher with a local service station may be given for times of difficulty to travel for medical / hospital appointments that are in Queanbeyan, Canberra and Batemans Bay.

A gas bottle can be provided when times are difficult.

If you just feel the need to come and have a chat and talk something through, that’s fine too. Our volunteers have training in active listening, and are skilled at lending a compassionate ear.

Be assured all visits are confidential. All volunteers in the Rooms have training in compassionate listening and non judgement. We do ongoing peer training and are very committed to the work we do.

The Thursday rooms are in the BLC building at the Rec Ground, open from 10am-12 midday.
