SUPPORT – the helping arm

We are thirteen volunteers with a heart for those in need – we have all been in need at some time or another.

We can give a hand up with vouchers for food, fuel and gas.

We can help with wood and water supplies.

We can organize emergency accommodation for a night or two.

We are available at the new building at the Recreation Ground each Thursday between 10 am and 12 noon where we can help you with vouchers and referrals to further help.

If your need is simply to chat something through then we will be happy to do that too. At times we organize courses for the benefit of the community such as earlier this year we organized for the Mental Health First Aid Training Course and we are looking to put on courses for parents in the future.

A Pastoral Carer is some one who has been trained to listen and to have meaningful conversations with people.

Ten of our volunteers have Pastoral Care training through Southern Health. This enables us to visit patients in hospital and residents at Narbethong House. The hospital will also refer us to people in our community. These visits will only ever happen with the permission of the person to be visited.
